Description
Experience Michigan's public land whitetail hunting with Tip of the Spear Outdoors!
Led by a licensed Michigan hunting guide and wildlife and fisheries biologist, our guided hunts combine practical field experience with an understanding of deer behavior, habitat, terrain, and hunting pressure to help put the odds in your favor.
We offer half day hunts, full day hunts, and our Complete Hunting Experience, which includes dedicated scouting, range preparation, and a full day of guided hunting.
Whether you're a new hunter looking for hands on mentorship or an experienced outdoorsman hoping to improve your opportunities on unfamiliar public land, we tailor each experience to your individual goals and experience level.
From filling the freezer to pursuing a mature buck, our focus is on providing safe, ethical, and rewarding hunting experiences. While wildlife sightings and successful harvests can never be guaranteed, you can count on knowledgeable guidance, careful preparation, and a commitment to making the most of your time in the field.
All hunts are scheduled by appointment during Michigan's established hunting seasons. Contact us to discuss availability and find the experience that best fits your goals!
What to Expect
Every guided hunt begins with a discussion of your hunting experience, goals, equipment, and expectations. Before entering the field, we will review the hunting plan, current conditions, and important safety considerations.
During your hunt, we utilize wildlife sign, habitat features, terrain, and our understanding of deer movement to identify promising hunting opportunities. Hunting strategies may be adjusted throughout the experience based on weather, hunting pressure, and observed wildlife activity.
We offer three hunting experiences to accommodate different schedules, experience levels, and goals.
Half Day Guided Hunt: One guided morning or evening hunting session, ideal for hunters with limited availability or those looking for a shorter experience in the field.
Full Day Guided Hunt: One full day of guided whitetail hunting, allowing additional time to adapt hunting strategies and pursue opportunities throughout the day.
Complete Hunting Experience: Our most comprehensive package, including a dedicated range preparation session, a hands on scouting session focused on wildlife sign, habitat, and terrain, and one full day of guided whitetail hunting.
Regardless of the package selected, our goal is to provide a safe, ethical, and rewarding hunting experience. In the event of a successful harvest, assistance with tracking, game recovery, and field dressing will be provided.
Hunters are responsible for obtaining all required Michigan hunting licenses and tags, along with appropriate clothing, equipment, and ammunition. Additional equipment needs and meeting details will be discussed before the scheduled hunt.
All experiences are scheduled individually, subject to availability and applicable Michigan hunting regulations.
Gear & Equipment
Hunters should arrive with appropriate clothing for the season, sturdy footwear, required Michigan hunting licenses and tags, and any personal equipment needed for their hunt.
Hunter orange is required during applicable firearm seasons. We recommend bringing water, snacks, binoculars, and clothing suitable for changing Michigan weather conditions.
Hunters are encouraged to bring their own hunting equipment whenever possible. For those who do not own a firearm, loaner firearms may be available by prior arrangement.
Please contact us before your hunt to discuss equipment needs and ensure you arrive properly prepared.
Weapon Details
Hunters are encouraged to bring their own legally permitted hunting firearms, bows, or crossbows appropriate for the season.
For hunters who do not own a firearm, we have a .350 Legend rifle and a Winchester SXP pump action shotgun available by prior arrangement, depending on the hunt and applicable regulations.
All loaner firearms are subject to availability, safe handling requirements, and guide approval. Equipment needs, ammunition, and any necessary preparation will be discussed before the scheduled hunt.

Camp/Accommodations
Our current guided hunting experiences are day hunts conducted on Michigan public land. Overnight accommodations, lodging, and camping arrangements are not included.
Hunters traveling from outside the area are responsible for arranging their own accommodations and transportation.
We are exploring the possibility of offering extended hunting experiences and multiday packages in the future.
Accessibility
Tip of the Spear Outdoors is committed to making hunting opportunities accessible to individuals of varying abilities and experience levels.
We welcome hunters with disabilities and will work with each individual to discuss their needs, physical limitations, and potential accommodations before scheduling a hunt.
Because our hunts take place on Michigan public land, terrain and accessibility can vary considerably between locations. We will make reasonable efforts to identify suitable hunting locations and adapt our approach to accommodate individual needs whenever possible.
Our goal is to help more people experience the outdoors safely, comfortably, and confidently. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs so we can determine the best options for your hunting experience.
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements vary depending on the hunting location, terrain, and individual hunting strategy.
Some hunts may involve walking through wooded areas, navigating uneven terrain, stepping over fallen trees, or remaining stationary for extended periods.
We understand that every hunter has different physical abilities and comfort levels. Walking distances, rest breaks, and hunting approaches can be discussed in advance to help develop an appropriate plan.
Please communicate any mobility concerns or physical limitations before booking so we can evaluate available hunting locations and determine what accommodations may be possible.
Permit & Tag Application Process
Hunters are responsible for obtaining a valid Michigan base hunting license and the appropriate deer license or tag before their scheduled hunt.
For individuals who have not completed hunter safety, Michigan offers an Apprentice Hunting Program that allows eligible hunters to participate under the supervision of a qualified mentor. Apprentice hunters must obtain a base apprentice license and the appropriate deer license.
At Tip of the Spear Outdoors, all hunters participating through the Apprentice Hunting Program are required to book our Complete Hunting Experience, which includes range preparation, hands on scouting, and a full day of guided hunting. This ensures we have adequate time to focus on safety, education, and preparation before entering the field.
We are happy to help clients understand their licensing requirements and guide them through the process before their hunt.
Licenses are available through the Michigan DNR website and authorized license retailers.
