• Swan Mountain Outfitters is a premier mule deer hunting guide service. Of all the species we hunt, we consistently produce excellent mule deer. There is nothing prettier (or tastier) then a mountain Muley and the mule deer in our area are among the best in the state of Montana on public land. We can either provide a guided mule deer hunt exclusively, or in combination with elk, whitetail and bear.
Montana mule deer are not the same all over, and the mountain mule deer in our area in not like the mule deer you will find in the deserts in other western states, or in the plains in the eastern part of Montana or elsewhere. Mountain mule deer eat different browse that result in large antler base mass, as well as deep chocolate coloration of the antlers. Our guided mule deer hunts are done off of horseback.

• Swan Mountain Outfitters is proud to offer a Dual Weapon backcountry hunt in the famed Bob Marshall Wilderness during the elk rut weeks of mid September to early October. This is a very special offering as it is one of the few areas in the country where you can rifle hunt elk during the rut or bugle. Hunters can use both bow or rifle depending upon which side of the wilderness boundary line they are hunting. The area around our Upper camp is designated for bow only during this early season. Our elk hunts are done off of horseback on public land, and we have purposely designed them to be unlike the majority of the offerings out there. These hunts fill quickly so inquire today!

• This is a wilderness back country pack in hunt. We utilize wall tents in our base camp that is 6 miles from the trailhead. We will be riding horses most of the days unless hunting close to camp. We hunt from an elevation of 4200 feet by small rivers to up over 8000 feet on the Continental Divide. We have some of the best elk and deer habitat in the wilderness, from deep timber, to high country parks, to above the timberline on the Divide, all accessed by horseback. In our operation I like taking in small numbers, from four or six hunters per hunt. We will hunt the animal of your choice. We will not pressure you to shoot the first thing you see, it is your choice, and we don't pack you out early if you score early in the hunt.
