Budge's Wilderness Lodge
Budge's Wilderness Lodge
Wilderness Camp Elk HuntsFrom $6,800 to $7,800
Gypsum • Budge's has more than a dozen permitted camp locations scattered throughout our 150 square mile area. However, we never use more than a handful in a single season. This allows us to rotate camp locations, reduce pressure, and increase hunt quality. Inside the Wilderness area boundary, there is no motorized access. Hunters will ride into camp on one of our sturdy saddle horses or mules. And all gear will be taken by our hard working pack animals. Once you're at camp, all hunting is done on foot. This makes it a good option for hunters who would rather not ride a horse out of the main lodge every day. Our wilderness camps are simple yet comfortable, with 16x20 wall tents and wood burning stoves, along with large cots and thick pads. Bring your sleeping bag and personal hunting gear, and we'll take care of the rest. An attached cook tent provides a separate space for our guides to prepare meals. Our wilderness camp elk hunts include meals, five full days of hunting, and eight nights of accommodations - six of those nights are in the wilderness camp. And two nights on either end of the trip will be spent in one of our cabins back at the main lodge.
Lodge-Based Colorado Elk HuntsFrom $5,800 to $6,800
Gypsum • Budge's Wilderness Lodge sits 40 miles from the nearest hard-surfaced road and is surrounded by Wilderness on three sides. From here, it's foot and horse traffic only. When elk hunting out of our main lodge, you'll enjoy cozy log cabin accommodations. These are the original cabins built by Ed Budge in the 1920s. Of course we've made some upgrades since then, including simple bathrooms, lights, and propane heat. Between the new mattresses, the comfortable linens and a spectacular backcountry setting, you might feel like settling in long term. Our lodge-based elk hunts include five full days of hunting, six nights accommodations and meals.
